Activities & Events:

Activities

1. Igloo Building: Spend the day constructing an authentic eskimo igloo with our team of mountain guides. In a world of white, like a painters fresh canvas, let your imagination go wild to create one of a kind images. When night falls, we will light paint our surroundings using techniques of Chip Simons.

2. Snowshoeing & skins: The first day we will instruct you how to walk on top of powder using snowshoes or skins. Once comfortable, we take a 1/2 day tour and photograph models in a scenic background.

3. Paragliding: As our tandem pilots say “ Discover why birds sing ” Starting high in the alps, your pilot gives safety instructions for take off into the blue open sky.  Simply fantastic!

4. Ice Climbing:  Available for the spring workshops.  An introduction to walking on a glacier. Professional guides show you the techniques of using necessary equipment : hiking boots with crampons, gloves & ice ax..  Once on the glacier the photo possibilities are endless. Ice chips fly as a model makes his way up an ice wall.

5. Dog Sledding: Set up for us, we take a ride across a snow field where you will be able to stop and shoot images of neighboring husky led sledges.

6. Hot Air Ballooning: A perfect option to endless landscape images, as you silently float over fields, mountains, lakes, and swiss villages. ** available at an additional cost.                                        

7. Glacier flights: See the Northface close-up. Land on a glacier or mountaintop for unique high-alpine scenery. Our pilots can fly  you to one of many possible destinations: Jungfrau, Gstaad or the famous Matterhorn in Zermatt by way of glacier airplane or helicopter

8. Skiing & Snowboarding: Capture experts showing off their talents.Powder, Halfpipe or races... We arrange scenic backgrounds and models for your needs.        **available at an extra cost: You must be able to ski proficiently.                

 The above list of activities are all available throughout the 10 day workshop. All are subject to change due to weather & snow conditions.

Events

1.   International Lauberhorn World Cup - Wengen, Switzerland      One of the three top downhill skiing races in the world. * up-close press passes included. 

2  World Snow and Ice Festival - Grindelwald, Switzerland       In Grindelwald, famous mountain village at the foot of the Eiger, International Ice Artists show their best. During the day we will document the making of these collossal sculptures and ChipSimons will demonstrate how to light paint our favorites..

3. Haysled Championship - Adelboden, Switzerland                                   Traditional Swiss farmer`s race. Imagine seeing huge haybale-piled sleds speeding down a black diamond ski slope, piloted by farmers wearing tasseled caps, smoke pipes and brown tattered clothing. .

4. FIS - Freestyle Acrobat Jumping World Cup              

5. Adelboden hosts World Cup Giant & slalom Championships-        ** up-close press passes included.

Additional costs:

Airfare to Switzerland, Transport to Interlaken.

Lunches will be mostly on the road. On special treks we may provide simple meals like soup, bread and cheese. Otherwise bring your own sandwiches. Dinner is available at your hotel or there are many possibilities of fine or simple dining offered in Interlaken specializing in traditional Swiss or international Cuisine.

Skis/Snowboard rental is necessary if you sign up for addtional ski or snowboard tours.

Hot air ballooning are available at extra cost, weather permitting.

 Our on site professional fujiminilab lab offers Color film processing & printing . We also sell fuji print & chrome films & batteries. E6-processing from a overnight lab is possible.

Who should attend our workshops?

We require an informal portfolio. Bring with you 15 to 20 of your best recent images taken within the past five years. Which medium is your choice: slides or prints.

Photographically, we expect you to be proficient with use of your own 35mm camera equipment handeling. Photography needs to be a strong passion of yours, but you need not to be professional.

You must be in athletically good physical condition and able to acclimatize to winter conditions in high altitudes.  If you have health problems, we request yout inform us on the registration form. We will show you techniques of snowshoeing/skin and ice climbing. If you would like to include ski or snowboard tours, you are required to already know how to ski at an intermediate level.

Packing List:

Photographic material: We work with 35mm SLR cameras(Nikon), wide angle and fisheye(14mm-28mm)   medium range(50mm-150mm), tele/zoom(200mm-400mm), flash unit & portable tripod. You may bring your bigger format camera or huge teles....just remember: you will have to carry it, so do not overload. You will  need a weather proof camerabag/backpack for comfortable hiking.

Winter Clothing: Warm & weather resistant winter jacket, snowpants, thermal underwear, hats, gloves, sunglasses ,warm socks & sturdy waterproof /warm  hiking boots.  

Insurance: You must provide your own travel insurances accidental & health.

Passport: A valid Passport is essential.

Currency: Switzerland`s currency is the Swiss Franc. We suggest you bring a credit card and travels checks.
